A LOVE LETTER TO EXXON FROM DARTH VADER
That’s mad evil. The type of evil that someone like Darth Vader respects.
Stop The Oil Profiteering partnered with legendary film director Adam McKay and HyperObject Industries to produce this love letter from Darth Vader to Exxon CEO Darren Woods congratulating him for his company’s horrific acts.
It’s sort of like the (very real) friendship medal that Vladimir Putin gave former Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson for helping expand Russian oil and gas production and fuel their war machine.

PETITION TO THE US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND STATE ATTORNEYS GENERAL:
Reports show that oil and gas companies like ExxonMobil knew decades ago that their product would lead to catastrophic climate impacts. But instead of warning us, they spent billions of dollars to mislead the public and block climate action. Now, we’re paying the price of more extreme weather events and other climate disasters as Exxon and Big Oil continue to rake in record profits. It’s time to hold big oil accountable and make polluters pay. Investigate Exxon and Big Oil and hold them accountable for their climate crimes.
In 2015, investigative journalists uncovered that ExxonMobil had known that burning fossil fuels would lead to potentially catastrophic climate impacts as early as the late 1970s. Subsequent reporting showed that the company, and its oil and gas industry peers, likely knew about these impacts as early as the 1950s.
This January, Harvard researchers published a new report that showed that not only did Exxon know about climate change, they were predicting the exact amount of global warming we’re now experiencing with remarkable accuracy.
Exxon knew exactly the damage it was causing, but it covered up the truth in order to protect its massive profits.
That deception continues today. Exxon and their Big Oil buddies spend billions of dollars on advertising and public relations campaigns designed to make us think they care about the climate crisis even as they continue to make it worse.
It’s time to make polluters pay for the damage they’ve done.
WE CAN HOLD BIG OIL ACCOUNTABLE
Around the world, cities and states are suing Exxon and other oil companies for the damage they’ve done to our climate. Last year, the House Oversight Committee launched an investigation into Big Oil’s climate coverup which the Senate has said it will continue over the coming months. And all across the galaxy, everyday people are rising up to take on the industry that’s destroying our planet.
But more needs to be done. Congress needs to pass a windfall tax to claw back the obscene profits Big Oil has made by driving up prices during the war in Ukraine. The Department of Justice and more state Attorneys General need to investigate what the industry knew and hold them accountable. And President Biden needs to stop approving new fossil fuel projects that allow this industry to keep profiting from destruction.
